The Owlery Show

A sliver of s'me.

I have a number (24) of prints and drawings showing this month at The Owlery in Bloomington, Indiana. The Owlery is a new restaurant instigated by Ryan Woods and Toby Foster. It pays half of Bloomington to feed the other half vegetarian/vegan nibbles. May I recommend the "fish" and chips, the beer, and the nachos even. 

There was a faux-opening/poetry reading the night of April 30th featuring Ryan J., Matthew Whispers, Richard Wehrenberg Jr., myself, and the wonderful poetry of Bloomington's Tara J. Below are recordings of the readings, and after the jump are photos of the art installation. All of the work is for sale, at prices between fifteen and fifty dollars. I believe the show stays up until June 1st. Upcoming shows at The Owlery feature the artwork of Erin Tobey and Nate Powell - exciting.

Short Poem at Haggard and Halloo

My poem 'Practical Mathematics' was just published by the Austin-based online literary journal Haggard and Halloo. It's also collected in Austerity Pleasures, which Monster House Press just posted a pre-release promo for.

Two Upcoming Readings in Chicago

I'm reading something February 18th at 7 p.m. at threewalls gallery in Chicago, Illinois, with Matt Griffin and Mark Franz. Read about it at Chicago Artists Resource, threewalls, Rhizome and On the Make.

Then, on March 20th at 6 p.m., I'll be reading poetry at The Whistler in Chicago, Illinois, with Ben Tanzer, Victor David Giron and Natalie Edwards. 

Unicorn Whores Zine

We Are Friends collaborative zine Unicorn Whores

I recently received my contributor copies of Unicorn Whores, a screen-printed zine produced by a collective of friends in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It follows the zine Dragon Slutz, and the third in this fantasy series will be Robot Boners. Unicorn Whores is basically a series of poems and stories about unicorns and sex, accompanied by black and white illustrations. 

Michelle Chrzanowski and Ben Larson, who are the figureheads of We Are Friends, routinely make high-quality zines, including one entitled Oscillation with gorgeous 3-color interior screen prints and a zine entitled Mind Reader that isn't about Madonna.

Unicorn Whores and Dragon Slutz are currently in stock at Quimby's in Chicago, IL. One could also order a copy by emailing wearefriendsart@gmail.com.

I don't know who else contributed to Unicorn Whores since a listing isn't included, however, I can spot a John Malta drawing when I see one. See his illustration and my poem, 'Exchange Program,' after the jump.

Ear Eater Reading in Chicago 1/22/11

I'm reading poetry and/or performing at the third iteration of Ear Eater. 
Ear Eater is a quasi-monthly reading series hosted by Sara Drake and Cassandra Troyan at their apartment in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Christopher Higgs, Jac Jemc, Natalie Shapero and Sara Drake will also be reading. 

Ear Eater commences at 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 22nd. Sara and Cassie's apartment is here: 1622 S. Allport St. Apt. #1, Chicago, IL.

Poems

I wrote poems about paintings, unicorns, dreams, poetry, poverty, maybe-soon-to-be defunct companies, ice cream and math.
